Our Story

Our story begins in 1997 when Brain Products was founded by Alexander Svojanovsky and Henning Nordholz. At that time, they revolutionized the the neurophysiology market with the initial release of the BrainVision Analyzer software, the world’s first convenient and automated Windows-based EEG and ERP analysis software. BrainVision Analyzer quickly became a worldwide success. In 2006, Dr. Achim Hornecker took Henning Nordholz’s place as the managing director of development and supervised the successful development of Analyzer 2.0, which was completely rewritten to reflect the continuously developing needs of our customers. Still today, it remains one of our flagship products and is used by thousands of labs worldwide.

Products launched

Brain Products built on BrainVision Analyzer’s success and developed many more solutions and products for a variety of applications in the field of neurophysiological research. To mention just a few of our milestones in our history: We began offering the BrainAmp amplifier series for EEG recordings in the lab. Next, the BrainAmp MR amplifier series was developed for EEG-fMRI recordings. Next, we offered the actiCAP, an active electrode system. Then came actiCHamp, our 24-bit amplifier with active electrode technology. Finally, we released the LiveAmp wireless/mobile EEG amplifier system. By listening closely to the needs of our users, Brain Products has grown to be a world leader in these areas, as well, and continues to maintain the level of excellence set with its market-leading software.

Growing a worldwide network

Along the way, the Brain Products team has grown and built upon decades of specialist knowledge and experience in neurophysiological research. The Brain Products family now includes offices and subsidiaries on three continents and a distributor network reaching over 60 countries.
